LaNae Millett comes from a long line of public servants, dating back to her great-grandfather who served as a city mayor, her grandfather as a councilman and her mother as a county treasurer.  She values community service and giving back to the community.
 
LaNae was raised in Heber Valley with her six siblings. She remembers fondly spending summers at the Scera pool with cousins, and buying produce grown in Orem orchards from roadside fruit stands. 
 
She learned the value of hard work at a young age, getting a job at just eleven. By the time she graduated from Wasatch High School, she was working three jobs as a waitress, a bookkeeper, and moving sprinkler pipe on a farm in Midway in the early mornings and late at night. She even obtained a real estate license as a teenager to help out with her father’s business. 
 
This strong work ethic saw her all the way through her education where she put herself through school.  She ultimately earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from BYU.  
 
After college, LaNae worked for State Farm Insurance where she traveled to disaster cleanup areas to help assess and pay for damages at several natural disasters including the sites of Hurricane Andrew, the Northridge California Earthquake, Denver hail storms, and right here in Utah during the iconic Snowstorms of 1993. These experiences helped LaNae to see the world through a compassionate yet objective lens, giving her the ability to listen to all sides of an issue and make the best decisions possible with the information she has available.  
 
When LaNae and her husband Ken were finally blessed with triplets, LaNae made the choice to leave her formal career behind, but her drive to work hard and help others carried her into a new adventure: public service. 

LaNae got involved in the PTA and as a volunteer classroom tutor when her oldest children entered school. Once she got a taste of how volunteering and community service could change her community for the better, LaNae was hooked. She continued serving in schools and PTA and added to her volunteer service Chair of the School Community Council at Timpanogos High School, the Orem C.A.R.E (Cultural Arts & Recreation Enrichment) Arts Commission, Mayor & Council Compensation Commission, the Orem Neighborhood Preservation Committee,  Precinct Chair, Vice Chair, County and State Delegate. All of this service culminated in LaNae’s being elected as a member of the Orem City Council in 2021.

LaNae has served faithfully as an Orem City Councilwoman for the past four years. She puts her heart and soul into her public service and is proud to make a positive difference for the City of Orem and its residents. LaNae enjoys all facets of being a public servant, but she especially enjoys being able to help individual citizens who come to her with issues or problems. With her experience serving on the City Council, she is able to help residents get the results they seek. 

LaNae has spent the past four years furthering her understanding of how the City of Orem works, how to manage complicated relationships, how to collaborate with people from all walks of life and find common ground, and––most importantly––how to get things done. 
 
LaNae has proven through her years of service and her unparalleled dedication to the community that she will never stop working to help Orem grow in a way that is positive for families and the people who live there. 

LaNae and her husband, Ken have lived in Orem for over 35 years and enjoyed raising their five children in Orem.  She is passionate about supporting Orem neighborhoods and families, and building a bright future for all Orem residents.
