Strengthening Neighborhoods - Orem’s myHometown initiative

One of the three main priorities of my campaign, and my service as Orem City Councilwoman is Strengthening Orem’s Neighborhoods. I’m proud to have helped accomplish that priority through a partnership with myHometown. It is my duty, and pleasure, to serve as the liaison between Orem City and the myHometown organization. The is one of the best parts of my job, as we are making a real difference in Orem’s neighborhoods.

myHometown is a non-denominational, service organization that partners with cities to provide education, beautification, service, and connection opportunities to the city’s neighborhoods. They provide free classes that teach important skills to the public. They even provide after school classes to help the neighborhood children with homework. They also organize service projects in the neighborhood.

Orem launched its first myHometown initiative in the Geneva Heights neighborhood. I was instrumental in this launch and worked closely with the volunteers of myHometown as well as the city staff. The launch was a great success, and the program is functioning so well that we will soon be launching a second initiative in the Scera Park neighborhood.

Here are some photos of one of the recent Orem/myHometown days of service. We had a great turnout and were able to do a lot of work to help beautify and revitalize the Geneva Heights neighborhood. I love working with Orem residents to provide service and help each other. This great program is helping to make Orem’s neighborhoods even stronger.
